More about the Talbert Family Foundation

Who we are.....The Talbert Family Foundation is dedicated to providing direct financial support to local families with members suffering from catastrophic illnesses, primarily cancer. We try to locate families that need financial assistance and provide funds without any strings attached through a program we call "TFF Kids".

The upset caused to a family by cancer or other catastrophic illness is enormous. While we do provide emotional support, our primary goal is to provide financial support and enlist the support of the circle of family, friends and colleagues. When a family enters the TFF Kids program, they can be awarded a $5,000 honorarium. These funds can be used for any purpose by the family. Next, we get to know the family and develop a strategy for making direct appeals and other fundraising events.

To date, we have had 70 families in the program and have provided over $1,250,000 in direct support. The funds have been used for everything from a family vacation all the way to helping get caught up on a past due mortgage and property taxes. Again, our goal is not to tell families how to spend the money. Instead, we just try to reduce or eliminate one more thing to worry about.

All funds raised go directly to the TFF Kids families.
All overhead expenses are funded by the Talbert family.

In addition to the TFF Kids program, the Talbert Family Foundation also produces events to raise general funds. One of these events includes the Calabasas Classic 5k/10k Runs held each November. These funds are used to fund the TFF Kids program.

The Talbert Family Foundation does not do advocacy work per se', but we do work in the community to bring awareness to the hardships caused to families by cancer. Everyone understands the hardships. In fact, most people have dealt with it either directly in their immediate family or indirectly, through their extended family and friends. We just try take that awareness and make it a call to action, both in initial identification of candidate families and helping out once a program gets underway.

We support any number of local programs of the City of Calabasas, such as the Fine Arts Festival and the Pumpkin Festival, as well as working with the local Chamber of Commerce and the local chapter of Kiwanis.

Since inception, we have never had to turn away a family nominated for the program and are actively seeking new families for the program.

We hope our message is compelling to the community and we will be able to continue to identify and help families in our community.
