The Travis Davis Fund

Hi there.  And thanks so much for stopping by.   I'm a 39-year-old husband, father of two, and full-time actor and voiceover artist --- going on 12 years now in the Los Angeles area.  You may have seen (or heard) my work at some point or another (samples at http://www.travisdavis.tv).  It's this work that has given me the good fortune to fully support my wife so that she can stay at home and take care of our handsome 7 year old boy, Race, and our beautiful 5 year old girl, Haven.  We've certainly been very blessed to have each other, a home full of love, and a relatively stable income.

Then, on July 11th, 2008, I was hit by one of life's curve balls; I was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer.  Pretty rare on its own, but even more so for my age and ethnicity.   Unquestionably, the last 3 months of chemo have required a major life-style change, put new stresses on my wife, kids, and myself, and have unfortunately interfered with my ability to secure and perform new work.  Now, with the estimated 4 more months of continued treatment and uncertainties ahead, we realize it's time now to reach out for help. 

As it stands now, I'm scheduled for surgery this October 28th, which will require a 9-10 day hospital stay, followed by 4-6 weeks of home recovery --- and then another 3 - 4 months of chemo / radiation. 

This has certainly not been a walk in the park, but I'm very grateful for the treatment that's available, and the positives that have evolved out of all this:  growing closer to my wife, kids, my mom, and friends, never taking anything for granted again, cherishing family time in a way that I couldn't have before, feeling the outpour of love & support from extended family and friends, discovering new friends who've been where I am now and are providing great inspiration and hope --- and just generally seeing hat's really important in life through a new, and better prism.
