Sydney Coblentz ~ 2006
In April of this year 11 year-old Sydney Coblentz was diagnosed with Osteo Sarcoma (a very rare bone cancer). The tumor had taken over a section of her femur bone, right above the knee. In June of this year, she underwent surgery and doctors removed the tumor and her femur bone replacing it with a titanium rod. Since then, Sydney has had aggressive Chemo and physical therapy for her leg. Her treatment is still continuing with Chemo, medication, rehabilitation, and just some good old fashion rest. In the next couple of weeks Sydney will be receiving two Chemotherapy treatments right before Christmas! (They say timing is everything)!
The parents, Tony & Kris Coblentz, have a total of five children, Nicole (14), Luke (12), Sydney (11), Reese (3), baby Emerson 6 months old, they always wanted a large family! Kris Coblentz was 7 months pregnant with their 5th child, Emerson, when they received the devastating news of their daughter's cancer.
At the start of Sydney’s treatment Kris(mother) was not even allowed to be in the room when Sydney received her Chemo, due to her being pregnant. The idea of not being with her daughter tormented this mother to be. When Kris delivered Baby Emerson in June she was only 2 floors below her 11 year old daughter, Sydney, where she was receiving Chemo. Tony (father) split his time upstairs and downstairs at the hospital, the joy of a new daughter and the heartache of a sick child was an emotional roller coaster. Tony is the owner of his one man plumbing/sewer company and Kris is a stay at home mom. They are a modest family, spending only on the essentials and their kids' love for sports & extra curricular activities. Since the day of Sydney's Cancer news, Tony only returned to work to finish up jobs he committed to. Finally in late summer he was able to start to take on little jobs just to get by on the monthly bills. Now that Sydney is coming into the stretch of this and her next round of chemo is coming up, it is important that the dedicated father and husband can be there with his family.
For the past few weeks everyone has and still are working really hard, making phone calls, sending emails, getting the word out to take up a donation of money. The donation is to help the family get through the next couple of months without having to worry about the monthly Bills and the expense of the Holidays. Anything & Everything is appreciated and extremely needed. I know that this comes when the Christmas Holiday has just about tapped out every ones wallet, but if a donation is not possible then please say a prayer for this amazing and well deserved family.
This is a surprise to the Coblentz family and would appreciate this Generous task at Hand to be kept a Secret. All money donated will be presented to the family on December 19th.
Sincerely,
The Edwards, Hooper, Zepeda, Meadows, & Hansen Families
