REGINA'S FUND

My daughter Regina relapsed this year with multiple brain tumors.  First time she was diagnosed in 2004 and she got treated in St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  After Radiation therapy, intense chemo and stem cell transplant she was cancer free until....
Until cancer decided to take over her brain in June 22, 2007.  Doctors in CHOC counted about 35 tumor lesions on her brain and we were told to go home and contact hospice because Regina has no chance to survival.

Luckily we did not give up and started seeking for treatment options. Which was harder this time around, since she all ready received chemo and cancer remembers past drugs...ONLY hospital that decided to give REGINA ANOTHER chance was CHLA. :) And we are so glad that we did decide to agree to high dose chemo and stem cell transplants. Regina is doing awesome, Tumors are shrinking and she is living miracle.
Doctors only gave her less than 2 months to live, but she already has lived 3 happy months.

Sadly this time our expenses were not covered and we were hit with pretty big medical bills. Yes, we do have insurance and we thought we had PRETTY GOOD insurance, but  we already have paid about 15 000 in medical bills, Ronald McDonald   house expenses, gas  expenses from Laguna Niguel to LA...and it is little bit overwhelming to deal with those extra expenses.  I feel like we have now 2 lives and 2 homes- My husband and my son in Laguna and my daughter and I  in Los Angeles.

Regina still has 3 months of treatments ahead of her…stem cell harvest,  3 stem cell transplants OR bone marrow transplant, oral chemo, labs  3 times a week... and so on...  Cancer sucks , but we try to make best of it taking life by storm and living as normal and happy life as possible.
