Jeffery R. Olivarri
WEDNESDAY, MAY 9, 2007 OK – to those of you who responded to my email yesterday – begging for prayers – THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I know that ALL of you have been praying for us today and always. Here’s the scoop. It didn’t turn out as we wanted but at least you will know why you were praying and that we need your continued prayer. Jeffery called us last night to inform us that he found a lump in his right testicle. Without getting into detail I went into MOM mode and immediately (at 11:30 p.m.) called our primary care physicians cell phone (he so happens to be a friend – thank God) and told him of the discovery. He immediately told us to be at his office at 8:00 a.m. this morning. We went, and we felt better when we left – he found the lump but felt it was nothing to be concerned about – however, felt we needed to go to a specialist and have some tests run and do a sonogram on his testicles just to be safe. At 2:00 this afternoon, we were at the specialist and were told the worse news we’ve had in years. Jeffery has testicular cancer – the good news – it looks to be contained in the right testicle and he is scheduled to have surgery to remove the infected one on Monday. We will know the details on when, where, etc…. tomorrow. The left testicle is clean at this point and the doctor doesn’t seem to think there will be any problem with having children – our main concern is his health and that we get it all out and he is up and running soon. It will be hard to keep this active 25 year old down – but he is up for the challenge and after a rough day of crying all through our house – he is in much better spirits and is looking on the bright side – that we caught it and they will be able to get it ALL out. Some of you haven’t heard the REALLY good news which is causing Jeff more pain – he proposed to his girlfriend on February 16th and they are planning a 2008 Spring Wedding. Please keep Jeff and Alicia in your prayers – they are truly going through a living hell right now. Keep Terry and I in your prayers for strength to pull it all together and make it through this one. To make matters worse – Jeffery turned 25 in October – which took him off our insurance policy. He signed up for the one at his employer – however, he changed jobs and began a new one this past Monday (two days ago) so he does not have any coverage. This is now on Terry and I, and well, we will get through this as well. We are survivors and we will make it through this rough patch – Thank you all again for your friendship – we love you all.
