| DOLORES' FUND |
I have known Dolores for about 6 years now and she has become a very dear friend. She has been very helpful in my store, as Dolores loves to clean. Her biggest battle during her down-times in the hospital and at home recuperating has been that she has not been able to be of help. She is the first one who is ready to help other people, and I really long to do something to help her, but cannot do it alone. Dolores is 57 years old and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 5 years ago. Her mother died of the same disease, and there is a hereditary gene in her family; Dolores' oldest daughter has the same gene, and will take preventative measures to try to avoid getting the disease too. Dolores had her first major surgery 5 years ago, followed by chemo and radiation. She was in remission for a little over 2 years, but then the disease came back and she had major surgery again in January 2010 which resulted in a lot of complications, leaving Dolores hospitalized for an extended period of time, and she has been hospitalized several times since as she is still fighting the complications of that surgery. Her cancer counts are up again right now, and she is awaiting approval of another PET scan to determine if cancer cells are active. WATCH FOR AN UPCOMING KNIT-A-THON TO BE HELD The Talbert Family Foundation has donated $5000 to this fund and will match the first $5000 raised from the public. |
