IT BEGAN WITH A DREAM TO DANCE

"You mean drive an electric wheelchair around while an able-bodied dancer rides
on the back of the chair and pirouettes around me?"

No, that's not really what I had in mind

And so began the journey to find a dance studio to support my passion that dance is for everyone.

From the African dance class where I was told I was a liability because people could trip all over me, to....the corner dancing school (several in fact) where they just didn't "get it"
.....some tried to be open to the concept of a dancer in a wheelchair, some did not.

After many futile attempts in the West Valley, I journeyed to Studio City to a small professional dance studio which catered to the "been there done that" true professionals of stage and screen who looked at my chair as an opportunity to create a new and innovative addition to the world of dance.

For the first time, I was no longer the recipient of gratuitous attempts to "Give the kid in the chair a chance to whirl around." For the first time, I was a dancer in a real ballet class and I felt included,
appreciated and fantastic.

Self-expression, there's nothing like it....whether telling a story with your body, singing, playing an instrument, or making people laugh, each is a gift and a gift needs to be shared.

That is what "BETHABILITY" is all about.
