An overview from last year:
Austin is an amazing 16 year old, Moorpark High School football player going into his junior year. He makes everyone laugh with his positive and contagious energy. He is an outstanding, disciplined student, a compassionate and loyal friend and
a loving son, uncle, and brother.
Last July 2011, amazing Austin was diagnosed with 2 yoke sack mixed malignant germ cell brain tumors. The majority of last year was spent in Children’s Hospital LA receiving care and undergoing chemotherapy treatments, which began July 13, 2011 through January 2012. During that time, one tumor disappeared, the other shrunk from 5.5cm to .9cm!! The game plan was for Austin to recover from the 6 rounds of chemo and go in for MRI’s to monitor him. As Austin was in partial remission, we were anticipating our May 3, 2012 scan to be our clearance. Austin is looking forward to heading back to football practice, school in the fall and a somewhat regular routine.
All of those hopes and plans were put on hold on May 3, 2012. We were hit with the news of a new tumor and the remaining one growing. We made a tough decision. On May 30, 2012, doctors did surgery for extraction of the tumors. While it was thought that they had removed the majority of those tumors, an MRI the following day proved otherwise. His new scans showed the surgeons were only able to extract enough for biopsy. Austin is now facing another mountain to move. At this time, our four-month game plan includes chemotherapy, stem cell replacement a second extreme chemotherapy and radiation.
Austin, recently baptized, is now 17 years old. He is still amazing, still courageous, and still full of faith and hope.
Matthew 17:20 says, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there” and it will move. NOTHING will be impossible for you”.
Austin has that kind of faith and we thank GOD for him every day.
He is a TRUE inspiration! A TRUE SUPERHERO!
Austin has been blessed with supportive family and friends, yet the world continues to be truly blessed by Austin...in all he does. He has a future of brightening the lives of everyone he touches with his love and laughter. He even makes others laugh in the hospital!
Please help in supporting Austin ! He is leading as a victor....
Your continued prayers and positive thoughts are also greatly appreciated.
